Jaylen smiled and nodded, "much more time, especially to make sure the potion will go just right for the time. He then mentioned getting caught. She grinned looking at him. "With that first year I got a months worth," she giggled. She loved getting into trouble, "but yes we won't get expelled," she said. She nodded and slid her notebook down into her pocket and looked at him.
"Three weeks than, three weeks and I can have two batches of potions made and ready," she smiled. He turned away from her and then turned back. "Um sure, I would mind meeting your other half," she said softly. She walked over to him. "Thanks for the offer," she said walking up to the great hall with him. "Oh the students, are they boys that we're going to do this too?" she asked him. She didn't have a problem with either genders but she just wanted to know.
She wondered about this male. He didn't show many emotions and he spoke but only with necessities, though she did the same. She wondered what he was feeling on his part, of everything.

Alec nodded, a slight smirk on his face, "Ah, the times when you first get punished. Nothing like it then; though I think it might be a good thing, huh?" he said, since the professors did tend to get more lenient on you as you go through the years, and still manage to get in as much, if not more, trouble than the year before. So thus, if they did indeed get caught, he'd think around a week or two of detention, especially if the professor was one of his own.
"Great, that should be enough." he nodded, as Jaylen informed him about the potions and how the time would work to their advantage with it. When she thanked him, he raised an eyebrow, "Don't mention it. I'm sure my other half would like to meet you as well."
When Jaylen asked about whether the Gryffindors were boys, Alec scoffed. "Their barbarians, but yes, you can call them boys. A disgrace to the male pride." he shook his head slightly, before running a hand through his hair.
"How'd you get so well with potions anyways? I'm sure that one thing my baby sister would ask." he decided to start up a conversation as they made their way leisurely towards the Great Hall.

Jaylen looked over at him. "Yes," she smiled, "I wouldn't mind a round of detention anyways, I get all my homework done in there," she said softly. She looked over at him and smiled. "So you and your sister must be really close, the way you were looking for her earlier," she said. As much as she wished her and her brother were closer she knew her mindset wouldn't allow it to happen, plus he was four years older than she was. She wasn't really close to anyone in her family except her grandparents on her mother's side. Her mother was okay with her being in Slytherin but had wanted her daughter in Ravenclaw more, but her grandparents were proud of their granddaughter, they would buy her anything that she'd ever want. Most summers she would go there anyways. She didn't care for her parents, not the way they loved muggles so much.
She then nodded when he said they were barbarians but still males and they were a disgrace to the male pride. "How so?" she asked. She wondered what his thoughts on male pride were. And then he asked her how she'd gotten so well at potions. "My mum and grandmother taught me potions from a very young age, I was making third year level potions when I was seven years old, even though I went to muggle school, my grandmother would come and pick me up and we'd go get potion ingredients, it was her favorite class in school, and she wanted me to live up to the family name in potions if nothing else, my great grandfather was the potion's master here at one time, he taught my grandmother and she passed it along to my mother and they passed it on to me," she told him. She was related to Snape on her mother's side. Her grandmother was his daughter, but Jaylen never spoke of him.

Alec raised an eyebrow in amusement, "Shouldn't you be getting your homework done anyways?" he couldn't help but say. It reminded him of something Alice would say, being the bookworm that she is. Alec nodded, a slight smile on his face, "Yeah, we're really close. Like you said, we're each other's half. She's the light, genius side. I'm the dark, devious side." he chuckled. Their mother always said that they were like opposites; she said she could tell from their eyes. His were cold and calculating; whereas Alice's were gentle and observant.
"I don't really know what I'd do without her, though. My life revolves around my baby sister, I'd do anything for her really." he said softly. Many who knew the twins knew that he was the older, very protective brother who loved his sister more than anything else in the world. Those who didn't know soon found out. He thought about what he said, he didn't want to say too much; but he figured everyone else knew already. Alice was his baby sister, and he'd be her guardian angel until they both passed on.
He scoffed when Jaylen asked how the Gryffindors were barbarians, and how they were a disgrace to the male pride. Being the oldest, Alec knew he was the one to continue the name of the Matthews family, while Alice would marry into another, probably pureblooded, family. His male pride told him they had to show power, but not be cowardly. His male pride told him that the female happiness was top of the list, no matter what relation, whether it be a mother, sister, aunt, or wife. "They don't know how to show their strength without being cowards. They'd attack a lady from behind. The male pride deems that disgraceful."
When she started talking about how her grandmother and mother taught her about potions, since it seemed to run in the family, Alec raised an eyebrow. "So, based on your family history, I'd say I'm looking at the next potions master." he smirked at her. However when he thought about it, he couldn't help but feel...jealous, in a way. His family didn't have the cleanest background, having been sided with the Dark Lord, way back then. It was mainly his father's side that sided with him; but his mother's side did too, though not all did. While Jaylen's family seemed to have a potions history, his had a Dark Arts one. Yes, it was something not many knew; and Alec planned to keep it that way.
"Well, if Alice isn't in here, she'd probably be in the library. We'll eat first though, if you'd still like to meet her that is." He held his arm out, like a gentleman and allowed Jaylen to enter first, before he headed off towards their house table, the Slytherin table.
OOC: Shall we finish this thread and continue to elsewhere?

Jaylen smiled and nodded, "I said it gives me extra time, I didn't say I didn't do it," she giggled. She then listened to what he spoke of Alice and smiled. "I called her your other half because you said she was your twin," she noted, "but it does sound like you two are complete oposites." She listened to his life revolving around his sister and nodded. Oliver was still protective over her even though they weren't close.
She looked at him when he scoffed about the Gryffindors. "Well they wouldn't be getting what they're getting if they'd attacked me from behind," she noted him. She pulled out her wand and fingered it for a moment. "They're getting off lucky," she told him softly. He obviously loved his sister very much.
He noted that he may be looking at the next potions master. "I wasn't considering it, but it could be a fall back, actually I want to work on remedies for St. Mungo's, but I wouldn't mind being a potions master, great grandfather snape would have been proud of me," she said softly.
When they arrived in the great hall he was a gentleman and she smiled walking in before him. She followed him to the Slytherin table and sat down next to him. "I would still love to meet your sister," she smiled. "So what runs in your family?" she asked.

Alec nodded in agreement, as she talked about him and Alice being complete opposites. "Yeah; mum thinks that too. Says she can tell the difference in our eyes. Which is ironic, seeing as they are the exact same color." The same ice blue - jade green mix; yet their eyes told of two totally different people. He wasn't surprised though, Alice once said to him, when they were younger, that a person's eyes is like a way into their soul. It's where their emotions where placed, whether they tried to hide it or not. That was back in second year; when they were just talking about how they were getting along in their separate houses.
When Jaylen began to play around with her wand for a moment, Alec looked at her, a smirk still plastered on his face. "Believe me, if Alice weren't so damn knowledgable, then I'd definitely have planned out worse." and he would have too. He would've made them think twice about even having their wands out when Alice was in eyesight. "Still, Alice wouldn't like it, so I settled for this plan. She'd be able to withstand it at this level." True, she'd be angry at him; but if there was no true harm done, then she'd be ok.
When she mentioned her great grandfather Snape, Alec raised an eyebrow; the Professor Snape, who was one of the greatest potions master in Hogwarts history? Well, it was a wonder she was so brilliant at it. "Well, no wonder your so brilliant at it then. Pretty sure Alice would love to talk potions with you, if you wouldn't mind, that is"
"She'd love to meet you; though I'm afraid of what might result. One potions master, and one genius together might be a bit overwhelming." he chuckled. His expression, however, took a one-eighty degree turn once she asked what ran in his family. Though his father was an Auror, it didn't mean he was all goody-two-shoes. "It'd be best I not talk about it." and it was true. After all, who would admit that a great talent in the Dark Arts ran in their family? Especially in school; Alec was no fool. He knew it was something he needed to keep secret, and Alice knew it too.
"I'm sure you and Alice would get along though; even if she may be a prefect." he changed the subject rather quickly. It was best not to linger on his family history for too long. He had in mind the fact that Jaylen liked to prank, whereas Alice was the one who enforced school rules, though she wasn't a stickler for the rules like others.

Jaylen looked at him and smiled. "The way the look I bet, the way they twinkle," she said softly, "but mum's always know that," she told him. She wondered how different his sister was from him. She listened to the way he spoke of the way Alice would feel about the plan. "She wouldn't approve of that would she, does she know who I am?" she asked softly. She knew several studnets knew who she was just by what she had done to the first year.
Jay blushed when he mentioned why she was so brilliant at potions. "Severus was very smart at potions, but I'm not nearly as good as him, he was one of the best, but we keep it strong in our family for that very reason, when you're related to such a extraordinary person in potions, you have to keep the knowledge in the family," she said softly, "I hope your sister appreaciates my knowledge in potions." She then heard him say that it was best not said what ran in his family. She nodded in understanding knowing what it was by the way he had said it and his facial expression.
Jaylen nodded, "I won't break the rules around her then," she told him.

Alec raised an eyebrow and chuckled, putting some mashed potatoes on his plate. "Ah, maybe; but maybe it was just a mum's intuition." He took a bite, before turning back towards Jaylen; his mouth set into a smirk. "She'd like you enough, never one to dislike anyone anyways. I'd think she knows you; seeing as gossip seems to spread quickly here." Alec took another bite, eyebrows furrowed in thought. Severus, Severus Snape. Yes, he was one of the best potions master the school ever had; brilliant man he was.
"Ah, I understand what you mean; though, sometimes it's just in your blood to know it," he said; eyes glancing at the Ravenclaw table, looking for Alice. He hadn't found her yet, but he was sure they'd find his evasive sister somewhere. Though she'd probably be in the library, or on her way there, or on her way here, to the Great Hall. "Alice appreciates anything knowwledgable. I'm sure she'll like you nonetheless." True, Alice would know about her pranking habits; but she wasn't one to judge right away. She believed in second chances; so she wouldn't act like Jaylen was a pranking troublemaker.
Alec shrugged, "Really, she's not as much of a stickler to the rules as some others. She's pretty fair as a prefect, if I do say so, not just because I'm her brother." he smirked slightly. Alice would take points away from anyone who was doing something wrong; not to someone who broke some minor rules, like sneaking food out of the kitchen. Plus, she wouldn't be his twin if she didn't know how to break the rules once in a while, just as he knew to stick to the rules once in a while. It was their 'twin connection' as their father dubbed it. They were so different, but they had small qualities that were exactly the same as the other, though, less...extreme. "If it's a minor rule, she won't mind. Just don't go cursing people in front of her; those types of rules, she does mind." he couldn't help but chuckle slightly as he thought of Alice.

Jay smiled and nodded. "Well if I was to be the future potions master, would you be glad to have your children learn from me?" she asked. She ate some of the food on the plate in front of her. She knew she had a reputation adn that his sister may not be fond of her. She nodded when he mentioned things being in their blood. "My father's side of the family is good in charms and defence against the dark arts," she said softly, "almost all the males are Aurors."
He spoke of Alice appreaciating anything that had to do with knowledge and her not be a stickler to the rules. "Well no cursing people, hopefully no one provokes me," she said softly with a grin. If provoked she would curse someone, no matter who was there.

Alec grinned slightly, "You bloody crazy? Who wouldn't want the next great potions master teaching their children?" If Jaylen were to seriously think about it; it'd be a good choice for her, if she had the patience to not hex an annoying student that is. He chuckled slightly at the thought, "Though, if you do become the next potions master; I'd be sorry for the little bugger that manages to make your angry, or even annoyed."
When Jaylen spoke of her father's side of the family being good at charms and defense against the dark arts, Alec raised an eyebrow. The first thing that went through his mind, though he didn't want it to, was 'I wonder how they'd fare against my own.' He shook the thought from his head; it was happening a lot, his interest in the dark arts grew more and more intense as he grew more and more knowledgable; and stronger every year. He was pretty sure Alice felt it too; though she just didn't let her interest in dark arts show, not that he did anyways. "Oh, my father's an Auror too. Though he's an only child, so I can't say all the males are Aurors too."
He then thought back to the first year being stuck to the ceiling, and chuckled. "Yes, let's hope no one provokes you; don't need any points taken from Slytherin already, ok?" he grinned, running a hand through his hair as he shook his head slightly. "Imagine, the day before classes, and Slytherin's already in the negatives!" he chuckled once more. Slytherin could easily catch up even if they started off lower than everyone else; especially with the way the potions professor always seemed to have a favor towards Slytherins. Still, he couldn't blame her if she were to curse someone who provoked her enough; he'd probably have the same reaction.
